How do I handle a patient's refill request?
Refill requests arrive as a Refill Request task, and you renew by writing a new prescription.
How do I handle a patient's refill request?
Who can do this: clinicians. The request goes to the clinician who wrote the prescription.
When a patient asks for a refill from their own prescriptions, GRAICE creates a task titled Refill Request for you. It has the Medication category and Medium priority. A patient can only ask while the prescription is active or filled and has refills left, and cannot send a second request while one is pending.
- Select Tasks in the Admin group.
- Open the Refill Request task. Its description names the medication, strength and refills remaining.
- Open the patient's chart, select Prescriptions, and review the current prescription.
- Select Prescribe to write the renewal. See Prescribe a medication.
- Back in Tasks, tick the task's checkbox to mark it completed.
No approve button
There is no approve or deny button on the task. Completing the task does not renew anything. The renewal is the new prescription you write.
If the patient should not get a refill
Message the patient from the Member tab in Messages, then tick the task's checkbox to complete it. See Message a patient or your team.
Prescribing through GRAICE must be turned on for your clinic.
