How do I set the minimum password length?

Set the minimum password length for your clinic under Patient Portal. Other password rules always apply.

How do I set the minimum password length?

Under Patient Portal you can set how long passwords must be for people in your clinic. It applies when someone accepts an invitation, claims their account, resets their password, or changes their password.

Who can do this: team members who can manage the practice (the check under Manage Org & Assign Roles in My Team).

    Change the minimum length

    1. Go to Settings → Customize → Patient Portal.
    2. Under Security Settings, find Password Requirements.
    3. Enter a number from 0 to 128 in Minimum password length. The default is 12.
    4. Select Save Settings.

    Rules that always apply

Whatever length you set, every new password must still contain an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character. It must not contain a common password, sequential characters such as "abc" or "123", or three repeated characters in a row. The checkboxes for uppercase, number and special character on this page do not turn these rules off.

    Saving and undoing changes

Select Save Settings to keep your changes. GRAICE shows "Settings saved". Reset reloads the page's saved settings and discards changes you haven't saved.

If you see "Error loading settings", the page didn't load. Refresh it. If you see "Failed to save", your changes weren't saved. Try again.

    Scope of this guide
